Today there are powerful production simulation software that can be used for creating detailed simulation models of manufacturing systems. These models can include machines with real data input and real control system code. The simulation models can also include human resources to realistically calculate the number of resources needed to run manufacturing, logistic material supply and service/maintenance.
The automobile industry learned their lessons
